Bedbugs can infest anyone’s home and can be a real pain to get rid off. Here are some tips to keep them at bay:
At home
Wash and dry bedding: Wash all bedding, including sheets, at a high heat of at least
60∘C.
Reduce clutter: Keep the area around and under your bed as clear as possible.
Vacuum regularly: Vacuum floors, carpets, and under the bed thoroughly. Place the used vacuum bag in a sealed plastic bag and dispose of it outside immediately.
Seal cracks: Seal cracks and crevices in walls, skirting boards, and around door frames to prevent bugs from entering or spreading.
Use protective covers: Protect your mattress and box spring with bed bug-proof encasements.
Inspect second-hand items: Carefully check any used furniture or clothes before bringing them into your home.
While travelling
Inspect hotel rooms: Before settling in, inspect the mattress, bed frame, and other furniture for signs of bed bugs.
Keep luggage off the bed: Keep your suitcase on a luggage rack and not on the floor or bed.
Wash everything: When you return home, wash all your clothes, including those that weren't worn, on a hot wash cycle.
